The US is not dying though. Historical/economic context matters. Things are not as good as Trump makes it, but not as bad as Bernie makes it. We NEED to do more, but we shouldn’t scrape the progress we have made in the modern world for poorly thought out policies, such as “guaranteed jobs”.

The disease is also not neo-liberal policies, racism, or the far-right.

One of the main problems is tribalism and by extension a lack of critical thinking. People are comfortable in their own little bubbles. So long as this is the case it will be very difficult to implement intelligent policies.
