Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I reworded it a bit “Democracy should be an idea meritocracy”. As to your main point “If voting is truly better than spending at determining the value of things… then markets should be entirely replaced by democracy.” as Michael Andrew Haines. pointed out I would say sometimes the ballot is better and sometimes money is better in determining the value of something.

Overall, I agree that money is more effective in creating accountability. Politicians have very little accountability and that’s because people vote down party line regardless of the competency of the person on the ballot.
