I’ll tackle your brackets qualm. It is true. 3 brackets are more complex, but it isn’t complex. The idea is to incentive work. You say the money earned from a job is already enough incentive, and that maybe true, but a lot of times the hardest thing when it comes to motivation is to get started. People will be more inclined to work a few hours if it means getting more basic income. And then once the person is already working they may agree to more hours. Ultimately, I think start with 3 brackets. If we find it is at worst useless then scrape it, but it is a lot harder to implement such a work-incentivized basic income once the income is passed.
